Homeland Security Bugs Your House!
If you have a Dell computer in your house Big Brother is watching you! One man found out a keylogger connected to an ethernet adaptor on his Dell laptop.
He states:
I was opening up my almost brand new Dell 600m laptop, to replace a broken PCMCIA slot riser on the motherboard. As soon as I got the keyboard off, I noticed a small cable running from the keyboard connection underneath a piece of metal protecting the motherboard. I figured “No Big Deal”, and continued with the dissasembly. Being an EE by trade, this piqued my curiosity considerably. On one side of the board, one Atmel AT45D041A four megabit Flash memory chip.
Dell tech support refused to answer his questions and after a bit more research he found out the board was a Keyghost hardware keylogger. He called the police who instructed him to call the Department of Homeland Security. Next he filed a FOIA request and was told:
…the requested records are exempt from being disclosed under FOIA.
Get ready for really paranoid hardware hacking!
