Complete List of Google Chrome About Pages

In the past day I read about an “Easter Egg” inside Chrome and tried it myself.  So I typed in the address-search bar about:internets, and I was really surprised to see that it resembled a Windows screensaver. I was even more surprised to see sspiper.scr screen saver running in the TaskManager.  Windows has a well know history about malware masquerading as screen savers. so this might be a security risk.  So much for the Easter Egg!

Ted: ZOMG, the ternets tubes are clogged!

It seems to me to be nothing more than funny reference on Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska, who referred to the Internet as “a series of tubes.”  See?  He was right all along!

Google Chrome About Pages

• about:internets — It runs the windows’ sspiper.scr screen saver in a tab.
• about:network — Network performance.
• about:version — Google Chrome version display, same as chrome-resource://about/
• about:memory — Memory usage stats.
• about:stats — Seems to be benchmarking statistics, and it ain’t secret anymore!
• about:histograms — ASCII histograms of various internals.
• about:dns — DNS prefetching stats.
• about:plugins — list of installed plugins.
• about:cache — List of cached files. Clicking on any of them displays a pretty hex dump. Same as view-cache:http://domain.tld/filename
• about:hang — Will hang the current tab/task.

• view-cache:stats — stats for cached files
• chrome-resource://thumb/http://redivide.com/ — Generates a thumbnail of one of the last visited sites, and dumps is on screen.
• chrome-resource://favicon/http://redivide.com/ — Same as above but for the favicon.
• chrome-resource://new-tab/ — Something I couldn’t figure out yet.
