Election 2008, Obama, McCain and Voting Machines

We are closing on a very important election — the presidential election. Yet, two companies will count the majority of the votes. Acording to OnlineJournal ES&S claims to have tabulated 56 percent of the U.S. national votes, and Diebold about 35 percent in the past elections. Here is more:

Voters can run, but they can’t hide from these guys. Meet the Urosevich brothers, Bob and Todd. Their respective companies, Diebold and ES&S, will count (using both computerized ballot scanners and touchscreen machines) about 80 percent of all votes cast in the upcoming U.S. presidential election.

Both ES&S and the ATM maker Diebold have generated enough controversy about voting irregularities. The Diebold voting machines, which run a customized Windows CE, are claimed to be flawed and easily hacked, others say that the manufacturers will intentionally skew voting in favor of the republicans. Huffington Post even had a tutorial by Marty Kaplan on hacking a Diebold voting machine.

A spokesman for Diebold, Chris Riggal, says their voting machine contained a:

…critical programming error that can cause votes to be dropped while being electronically transferred from memory cards to a central tallying point.

Now even Homer Simpson says so:

Obama, no! One vote for McCain, two votes, 3 votes…6 votes for president McCain. LOL we are doomed!
