Google 10th Birthday

In celebration of their 10th birthday, Google decided to put up the 2001 version of their index. The search page itself is a very good aproximation of how Google.com looked back then as well. So, if it’s the 10th aniversary, why aren’t they using the 1999 index? According to Google, there are technical reasons why the old index isn’t readily accessible. While searching, there is an option to “View old version on the Internet Archive,” which will take you to Internet Archive.

Unfortunatelly, the old index will last exactly:

One month. It’s kind of lame to be celebrating a mid-September birthday in late October, don’t you think?

I’m sure glad Lary and Sergey renamed BackRub to Google! I just couldn’t see myself saying: why don’t you backrub it.
